1.0.0-alpha08: Fixes, better transition from 0.x.x

:warning: This is an old version, please check the latest releases.

Changelog

1.0.0-alpha08 (2026-05-29)

Changes since 1.0.0-alpha07

  • Added a Capabilities section to devices/connections. For example, if you’re using AudioRelay to broadcast audio to a large group of people, you can prevent them from sending audio to your broadcasting device.
  • Fixed playback not resuming after a period of silence on Xaomi devices. On those devices, the app will now regularly play some silence tone. An option is available to disable that. Reported as #1, #2
  • By default, the connections from 0.x.x devices are rejected. That’s because they don’t use a certificate which prevent them from being authenticated. There’s an option to accept them if necessary. Related to this
  • Added a way to set an audio config as the default
  • Sprinkled a few explanations around attaching an app store purchase to an AudioRelay account
  • (Early access fix) Fixed the app stopping its playback if a single received packet was malformed/unexpected
  • (Early access fix) Brought back audio retransmission on packet loss
  • (Early access fix) Fixed discovery of 0.x.x devices failing
  • (Early access fix) Fixed sending audio from mobile lasting 30 seconds instead of 1 hour in the free version
  • (Early access fix) Use IP addresses instead of hostnames in priority. To prevent issues such as this
  • You can accept or deny a new connection from its connection details screen
  • Fixed some memory leaks

Windows

Linux

  • Made the tray-related dependencies optional so that the app doesn’t crash if they’re missing. Bug report
  • Removed most dependencies marked as required from the deb file. To prevent future issues such as #1, #2

iOS

  • The app asks for the record permission
  • The app shows a warning when LAN discovery is denied
  • Fixed a crash occurring after an audio interruption

Android

  • The audio media capture will now stay alive for a few minutes after the last audio stream stops. That way, you don’t need to accept permissions for it when you reconnect after a short-while. There’s also a setting to keep it alive as long as the Android is hosting
  • (Early access fix) Fixed some settings from 0.x.x not being migrated
  • (Early access fix) Fix not being to share logs
  • The UI will potentially be more responsive. (A wide-spread bug prevented the app from getting optimized during compilation).

Known issues

General

  • The translations aren’t up to date
  • The docs aren’t up to date

Android

  • Audio Media Capture options appear on Android < 10 devices. They shouldn’t as they’re not compatible

iOS

  • Missing device-wide audio capture
  • Missing the equivalent to Android’s playback notifications

Limitations

  • You can’t have multiple audio streams that send audio to AudioRelay’s virtual mic

Notes

  • Sharing Android’s audio won’t work for every app, check the compatibility here
  • Prices are increasing for the 1.0.0 release. For the early bird price, purchase premium from the 0.x.x version or, use the coupon EARLYACCESS2025 on the web for the monthly or lifetime purchases.

Thank you for the update. I’ve tested between Windows, Mac and Linux and all work great! Appreciate the fix @Asapha

One feature i’d love is auto connect on computer login is that possible?

Thanks for the report! There was some nasty memory bug due to a recent “code cleanup”… Hopefully, that was the only one.
I’ve updated the link, could you please try again with the new version?

Yes, but probably after shipping 1.0.0. please follow Auto reconnect to last server used to get notified about it.

I just came to forums to mention the same.. Getting constant crashes on all 3 operating systems. Went back to alpha 07 for the meantime.

Hopefully all of those are fixed in 1.0.0-alpha09. If not, please send me the logs.
