Using Wifi Direct instead of network

Description

So I have been using WO Mic as a setup because the inbuilt mic on my laptop is trash. This app basically connects my phone directly to my laptop. I recently had to lose my only USB C port, because it was loose and likely to cause a short so I had to detatch it from the motherboard. However, connecting via this method doesn’t seem to be able to find one another. There are a LOT of devices connected to the wifi in this house, so I would prefer to avoid it where possible. If my laptop’s bluetooth worked, I wouldn’t need this app. How can I set this up so it uses wifi direct, without having to use another app if at all possible - my laptop’s hardware is a decade old now.

Devices

I am trying to route laptop audio and mic to my phone

Phone:
Android 16
Samsung Galaxy S25
AudioRelay 0.26.1

Laptop:
Acer Aspire E E5-774G-582T
AudioRelay 0.27.5

There’s no Wi-Fi Direct support yet. The alternative right now is to create a Wi-Fi hotspot.

I’m assuming this is not what you mean when you say to create a hotspot? Or it is, and I’m just doing something wrong.

Yes it is. There’s also the equivalent thing from Android.
If you have trouble connecting, I’d recommend using the latest version from Announcements as you’ll be able to connect from either Windows or Android, and then, decide which side sends audio.

If you need help, please let me know what you see in terms of error message and IP address on either end of Audiorelay.
