Hello - I have a MacBook running MacOS 10.13 and an iPhone 8 running iOS 16. The loudspeakers on my MacBook are broken, but my iPhone’s speakers work well, so I thought I might send audio from my iTunes library to my iPhone speakers instead - exactly what AudioRelay is good for!
Or so I thought. I work in a country estate where there is no Wifi at all, but can connect my iPhone to my MacBook via USB. I have seen lots of references to networking AudioRelay between Mac and iPhone via USB, but I suspect this may be about Android phones only…
Anyway, I downloaded the Beta of the iOS version of AudioRelay today and installed BlackHole as well as a virtual microphone, but it seems the phone cannot connect to the Mac. The instructions on the Audio Relay web site show an Android phone offering a list of servers if everything is correctly connected, but all I have on-screen in the iOS version on my iPhone is ‘Found No IP address’. Attempts to connect to my MacBook by its IP address don’t work. Under ‘Devices’ all I see is ''No connected devices yet’.
My question is: CAN I use USB to connect the iPhone to AudioRelay? Or does that only work with an Android phone?
And if it should work… what am I doing wrong? Clearly the iPhone app is not ‘seeing’ the BlackHole output to route it to the phone’s speakers. Can you help?
Many thanks,
