Floating bubble controls during active connection

Hello,

I hope you are doing well. I would like to share a usability suggestion based on my experience with Android-to-PC audio streaming apps, such as AudioRelay, which allow the phone to be used as a microphone or audio source over Wi-Fi or USB.

Current experience:

At the moment, basic actions like muting the microphone, adjusting volume, or disconnecting require returning to the main application. This can be inconvenient, especially when the user is actively using another app, is in a call, or is working in full-screen mode.

Suggested improvement:

Whenever a connection between the phone (client) and the PC (server) becomes active, the app could automatically display a small, persistent floating bubble on the Android screen.

Tapping this bubble once would open a simple menu with three clear actions:

Volume control – quick access to microphone level adjustment.

Connection control – disconnect or manage the active connection.

Mute / Unmute – instantly toggle the microphone state.

The idea is to avoid holding buttons or navigating back into the app. A single tap should be enough, similar to call overlays or chat bubbles commonly used on Android.

From Android 11 onward, this could potentially be implemented using the native Bubbles API, together with the “draw over other apps” permission, providing a clean and intuitive solution without workarounds.

Thank you very much for your time and for considering this suggestion. Even if implementation details vary, this type of quick-access control could significantly improve everyday usability for users who rely on microphone streaming.

Kind regards
